5 Stars Very Convient
The wide mouth cafe cap works just as described. It is not water tight, but if closed and your bottle tips over, only a few drops will be lost. Together with the insulated wide mouth Klean Kanteen the insulated bottle will keep a drink cold for 24 hours.

4 Stars Highly recommend over sports cap
When transitioning from water bottles I went for the familiar sports cap, but it whistled and made my water taste like plastic. The cafe cap is much better b/c there is no plastic taste and no noise when drinking; it also pours great. Unfortunately it only fits the wide mouth kanteens, so I have no use for my old one. Be aware that the cafe cap is not leak proof.

3 Stars Good to have, but needs improvement
I believe we own at least 6 Klean Kanteens, and I love them all - especially the newer wide-mouth ones. I like the idea of the café cap, but like the first gen sports lid for the first gen Klean Kanteens, this needs improvement.

Pros:

* It’s easy to drink from

* It’s easy to screw on/off

Cons:

* It needs a clip or ring or some other way to attach it to something while the original lid is in use.

* It needs to be easier to clean

* It’d be nice if it were easier to open/shut

* It’d be nice if it were more leak proof than it is

4 Stars Simple and easy to use
This cap does just what it says it will do, and does it well. Simple to use, twists shut with a snap and is easy and comfortable to drink out of. As stated in the product listing, this is not an air tight cap so it will leak out if tipped upside down, but that is true for all Cafe caps.

5 Stars Great addition to my Klean Kanteen. Better than expected!
I have a pair of Insulated Klean Kanteens and wanted a top I could use for bike riding. I was afraid to order one because of all the reviews claiming they leak. I knew the top would not be spill proof but I did expect it to contain what was inside pretty well under normal use. I am extremely pleased!

If you make sure the cap is on snugly, it will not leak from the seal. As far as I can tell it is the same seal that is on the loop cap and works just as well. There is also an o-ring to help seal the mechanism that you will see if you take it apart (by the way, this is as simple a pinching the tabs that hold it in place and pushing on it. It is a great design and makes cleaning a breeze).

I actually filled my kanteen with water, placed the cafe cap on, inverted it and nothing came out, nothing, not one drop after holding it for several seconds. I then righted it and inverted it again and about half a teaspoon came out, but nothing else after the initial loss. Each time I righted it and inverted it about the same small amount came out, but it was nothing compared to what I expected and is more than acceptable for this type of top. I don’t know if it will continue to be this well sealed after repeated use, but if it even stays close, I’ll be very satisfied. If you need it to be absolutely spill proof, use the loop top. As long as you’re not trying to drink out of it while tumbling through the air, I can’t see how you could want anything else.

I put it in the bottle holder on my mountain bike and if I go crazy, I’ll lose a little, a very little, but not more than a few drops. For normal riding it works just fine.

Bottom line: Is it completely spill and leak proof, no. Is it more than adequate for the drive to work, normal all day use, golfing, biking, etc, absolutely. Is it better than advertised and reviewed, YES. Will I purchase a sport top if and when it becomes available, maybe, I like this top, but until then this works just fine and I have the loop top to use if I need something totally leak proof.
