Made from surgical grade 304 L.N. stainless steel (18/8) which is blended specifically for: food preparation, dairy, brewing, various medical uses such as metal pins, and where mineral migration is unacceptable. Our stainless steel is put through a passivation / electropolishing process which seals the surface and prevents minerals from migrating into the contents. Klean Kanteen used Monarch Laboratories to do a 48 hour sterile water test at room temperature. Test report #222812 revealed that no nickel could be detected (0 ppm). Tests also show our bottles to be lead free and safe for use with juice, milk and other beverages. The color is provided through an Epoxy paint that has been tested to be lead, mercury, chromium and cadmium free. It’s dishwasher safe (although we recommend hand washing to retain maximum color). Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the sports cap made of plastic and not stainless steel?
Your teeth. Klean Kanteen chose polypropylene #5 because it has no known leaching characteristics and is softer if you hit a bump on the trail. If you’d rather avoid plastic altogether, a stainless steel screw-on lid is available as an accessory.
Can I put hot liquids in my Klean Kanteen?
No. Klean Kanteen bottles are single walled and not for use with hot liquids. Warm beverages can be used at personal comfort level. The single-walled construction allows for more volume and the option to put your Kanteen on a flame.
Can I put my Kanteen in the freezer?
We do not recommend it and it will void the one-year warranty against manufacturer defects.
Can I put my Kanteen on a stove?
In a pinch, the Kanteen can be placed on fire or a stove. Beware not to melt the plastic lid or burn yourself.

Started with the 18oz and now have a 27oz and 40oz. 18 is great for short trips to the grocery store etc. The 27 is perfect for sipping at your desk at work and the 40 is perfect for refilling the 27 at work. If anyone has a water filter on their home tap, just get these and stop the plastic. It makes perfect sense. the taste is so clean and fresh. Stays cold all day. The sports cap works great. Very hygenic and flows well. Can’t go wrong with these.

I have a “natural” stainless larger version, and was SO excited to see the COLORS… LOVE their products, the only thing I didn’t care for was the change of the cap design… the black plastic loop cap from my prior bottle is solid (completely closed) this version for some reason is open/hollow… and is kinda “noisy” when you unscrew it or screw it on… only annoying in a situation where you are trying to be quiet… VERY minor detail, NOT a reason not to buy one!… do your part, STOP buying PLASTIC bottles!

I bought the 18 ounce bottle and am so thrilled with it.
I love the Sigg bottle design but hate the teeny neck on it and goofy
ping pong ball sports cap, and I certainly don’t want to have to buy a specific bottle brush…nope!
I bought two BILT bottles for either EMS or REI and they are horrible to drink out…when you’re working out you need water-the spout just doesn’t allow you to quench your thirst easily..
and now perfection in the Klean Kanteen. Fun colors, the water tastes great (my BILT bottles tasted terrible). Easy to drink out of with out the sports top. The sports top is fantastic! It’s easy to drink out of and the spout is designed to be just so to drink out of!
My 18 0unce seems a little small for the gym but great for the day. It is a nice size for a shoulder bag.
Haven’t had any problems with the cap, but I haven’t washed it in the dishwasher. If you are handy you could use a dremel and make a little hole for drainage….this may not be needed as the caps may have been redesigned.
If you need to really to quench your thirst at the gym get the 27 ounce.
5 Stars Too cute
I love my Klean Kanteen and the pink is just too cute. After using it for a few days I decided to get the 40 Oz. too. 18 is just too small for a whole day at work. After denting and giving it a few small scratches, I decided to by a slinger for it. I would recommend buying a slinger at the same time. They come in some pretty fun colors and patterns too.
